Sunday: A day of Rest and Reflection

Sunday is a day of rest.
Some of us may attend church.
Children go to Sunday school.
We call to check on our friends to let them know we are thinking of them.
We spend time together with our family.
We reflect on things.
We enjoy the moment.
We look around forget the bad and count our blessings.
We have dinner together as a family after a long week.
Sunday used to be a day to take life a little slower.

I feel like we no longer treat Sunday with the importance that was intended for it.
Instead life is chaotic.
We are busy.
We plan the week ahead of us.
We spend more time stressing about the coming week than we are refreshed and ready for it.
We are tired.
We are stressed.

We have lost the meaning of Sunday and it makes me wonder how we got here.
How did we get so busy?
How did we forget to take a few minutes to stop and pray for one another?
How did we forget to enjoy the moment?
How did we forget not to let life get in the way?
How did we forget not to let the world distract us?

Now is the time to reclaim Sunday.
Now is the time to stop and take a breath.
Now is the time to stop losing ourselves to nonsense.
Now is the time to stop letting the world distract us.
Now is the time to refocus our energy into positive things.
Now is the time to reflect on our blessings.
Now is the time to focus on God.
Now is the time to study the word of God and live it out.

Today I pray we never forget to stop and reflect on the goodness of God.
